Bonatti Balcony walk

A super mountain viewing walk offering the finest of the Italian side of the Mont Blanc mountains. The best point is the start above Arp Nouva, a tiny hamlet at the end of Val Ferret in Italy, the last bus stop from Courmayeur in Val Ferret is where you start. The initial bit goes up hill up 250m of zig zag path up the mountain and it then crosses horizontally through the Italian valley on the balcony path with great views on the right side returning to Courmayeur. The Bonatti balcony walk is as part of the Tour Mont Blanc but can also be a day expedition coming from Courmayeur. I prefer it coming from Arp Nouva than starting in Courmayeur but it can also be done direct from Courmayeur starting with an 800m uphill section straight away from Courmayeur town centre to the church, along road to carpark, and first left to Bertone hut. Going to Arp Nouva first can be a bus nightmare in high season so you may prefer to get a cab if you can to ArpNouva but usually the buses are fine and intime, but at 08:30 -10:00 three full buses can go passed you.
This is part of the Tour Mont Blanc although you can let me know if you want to do it as a day trip from Courmayeur.

From ARP Nouva you get a gradual start, fantastic views, refreshments at alpine hut Bonatti.
The balcony walk as of lunchtime on 4th July 2024 involved splashing through a few streams and stepping beneath a snow bridge which was no longer stable / melting, easy to walk 5m aside it, and otherwise it’s a good safe path and nice and flat with a down hill at the end to Courmayeur.
I will shortly add this as a day trip to my list.
