The Contamines Montjoie Nature Reserve Valley is a good starting point for this dramatic mountain adventure taking you up over high mountain passes, walking along rocky paths, across boulders fields to remote mountain huts and refuges. These paths are some of the more remote areas often hidden in winter under the snow and provide for atmospheric walking. Green valleys and cows welcome you at first in the valleys, flowers are everywhere in meadows in summertime, see mountain life as it is, just glorious, here communities live in enclaved areas with mountains all around, look towards Beaufortain and the Savoie region and towards Italy. See Italy, it is beneath the Mont Blanc on the Italian side from Col de Seigne. You may be able to detect the Spaghetti Bolognaise from Col de Siegne if you reach the Italian border at late morning, step over into Italy in the Val Veny to admire the Italian side of the Mont Blanc. Col de Seigne is a fantastic objective to have from Contamines. In France, Chapieux and Mottets provide mountain hospitality and a warm welcome and good food. The return walk is equally as wonderful with a tour of Lac Jovets, a stop off at Refuge Balme / Refuge Tre la Tete for French gastronomic treats, and fine views of the French Alps as you walk about enjoying what you see and where you are.
