La Fouly 3 lakes & St.Bernard in Valais

Service Description

Prepare for a fabulous day out with an International Mountain Leader showing you the way up to the 3 Lac Fenetres and Col St Bernard. Meet outside La Fouly supermarket at 08:00. Bring your walking poles for this one to steady you up and over the hills & mountains. First we ascend to Ferret, go up to Ars, then go along a track & paths to the Lacs Fenetres. The views of the mountains here are breathtakingly superb. We go left at the 3 Lakes and head up to the view point to see superb Valais mountains then we walk around the lakes. Then we head up to Col Bastillon at 2761m & go down and around to the next lake and valley and then go up hill again on a narrow path to Col Chevaux for more great views of mountains in Switzerland. Then we go down a little bit left and right and eventually up again and around to St Bernard Pass where the St.Bernard dog sanctuary used to be and where a dog museum is now. Enjoy a café & cake at Col St Bernard for 1hr, greet passers-by on the Tour Saint Bernard & Tour des Grand Cols Alpin (Swiss route 6), then after refreshments we walk down into Italy to another lake before going up to the Col Fenêtres from the Italian side, see the Col Drone and look across into France to Mont Blanc mountains and across into Switzerland from here. We descend to 3 Lacs Fenêtres once more before returning to Val Ferret & La Fouly on the path, track & road. During the day we cross streams, go on good and bad and delicate paths, we go up scree slopes and across rocks, we travel over uneven ground and across snow patches on steep slopes and in Cols and under Cols, we then walk along steep ground which can be muddy so walking poles & grippy soles are essential. It's a heart warming adventure in Switzerland & Italy with spectacular Swiss views and an authentic Swiss Alps feel to reach all the Cols and the lakes of Valais. A superb walk. We do walk along the tops for a short section too before touring the lakes and descending back to La Fouly so a head for heights is necessary and steady feet placements. During this one day walk we ascend and descend all the way to the Saint Bernard pass on foot across interesting mountain terrain and Cols. It is a long way. To the Col where cars drive through it is a long walk so be ready. It is possible to do just the 3 lakes Fenêtres option if preferred, just get in touch to book a shorter day if needed from La Fouly.
